was born and raised in Sydney, Australia and has been training in dance since he was five years old. After working and teaching professionally for over 10 years in Sydney, he successfully auditioned for Princess Cruise Lines and performed with them from 2017-2020. He then moved to Dallas in 2022. Nick works at Live Arts Conservatory on a weekly basis teaching Jazz Funk, Tap, and Musical Theatre. His latest work includes being an ensemble member for Garland Summer Musicals’ Crazy For You 2024. He’s very excited to be a part of the Hope In The Heartland cast!

Pinafore, Tzeitel in Fiddler on the Roof, Claire Holmes in The Secret Garden, and her original production, Oaks of Righteousness. When not on stage, Kelly builds community through her work at I Am Second and leads Mission Single (missionsingle.com), a nonprofit dedicated to discipling single women. is nine years old and in third grade. She is thrilled to return to Hope In The Heartland following her debut performance in this show in January 2024. Despite encountering physical challenges, Dayna’s passion for singing shines through as she shares her talents with everyone. Her warmth and positivity touch the lives of all she meets, spreading joy wherever she goes. In addition to singing, Dayna enjoys reading, drawing, and playing the piano and the drums. A special thanks goes to Ms. Caren for recognizing Dayna’s talent and supporting her enthusiasm.

Dallas audiences may have also seen her as Pepa in Women on the Verge (MainStage Irving) Paula in Catch Me If You Can (Firehouse Theatre) Irene in Hello Dolly (Firehouse Theatre) Christine in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Garland Summer Musicals) and more! She is originally from Phoenix, AZ, and a graduate of the University of Miami (BFA Musical Theatre) Favorite roles include Nellie in South Pacific, Fraulein Schneider in Cabaret, Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, Shulie in Schoolhouse Rock Live (National Tour) and her time spent as an Edutainer at the English Village in South Korea. Working with the Machens, the production team and the cast and crew is a dream, and she is thankful to once again join this amazing team. Bella has recently been seen onstage as Matilda in Matilda the Musical (DYA), Michael Banks in Mary Poppins (WaterTower Theatre), and Young Alfred in Alice by Heart (Center-Stage Works). When Bella is not at rehearsals, she can be found dancing, singing and crafting. Bella would like to thank her parents for always believing in her and the Machens for once again giving her this wonderful opportunity to tell a beautiful story.

Her favorite roles include Dance Ensemble in Singin’ In The Rain (Garland Summer Musicals), Florence in Bright Star (Dallas Young Artists), and Brigitta Von Trapp in The Sound Of Music (Rockwall Summer Musicals). When she is off-stage she enjoys teaching tap dance and working with students with neurological differences. She plans to get her BFA in Musical Theatre and dreams of opening an inclusive dance and performing arts center. She would like to thank the cast and crew for making this show so special and her family for their constant support. “Audentes fortuna iuvat” (“Fortune favors the bold”).

Recent/ favorite DFW theatre credits include Lank Hawkins in Crazy For You (Garland Summer Musicals), Clyde Barrow in Bonnie and Clyde (Repertory Company Theatre), Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd (Repertory Company Theatre), and Frederick Frankenstein in Young Frankenstein (Theatre Coppell). He also works as the Senior Videographer for Southern Methodist University, directing and producing content for central marketing. Garrett would like to thank his family and friends for their continued support throughout all of his on-stage endeavors.

Joshua has recently been seen onstage in On Golden Pond at Garland Civic Theatre, Mary Poppins at WaterTower Theatre, and Sweeney Todd at Lyric Stage. When Joshua is not at rehearsal he enjoys picking instruments and learning to play them by ear, hanging out with his friends and his oldest siblings and playing with his four little brothers. He would like to thank Caren Sharpe-Herbst and the Machens for giving him the opportunity to be in Hope In The Heartland.

He just started a new job with Continental Electronics Corporation as a Program Manager for submarine VLF communications systems and is in his 31st year of service as a reserve officer in the U.S. Navy. Noah loves the role of Johnny and is thankful to be able to “dance with a hole in his shoes” one more time. Some of Noah’s favorite roles have been Michael Banks in Mary Poppins and the Mayor of Munchkin City in the Wizard of Oz. Noah enjoys acting, drawing, painting and playing as much Xbox as his parents will allow. He would like to thank Ms. Caren and Mr. Machen for giving him the opportunity to play Johnny once again.

returns to this great show after last year’s tremendous run in Garland with Chris and Diane Machen entrusting him with this honor. Shows for Brian in 2024 include South Pacificat Rockwall Summer Musicals, Singin’ in the Rain at Garland Summer Musicals and the cheeky Holmes murder mystery, Baskerville at Allen Contemporary. Irving Arts has a special place on the resume when Brian and a stellar show of Inherit the Wind fell victim to the shutdowns a week from opening in April 2020. But the shows and audiences the last 4 years have been so enriching, and he appreciates his bride, Diane, letting him pursue the rush of theatre. Let this show and music last with you for a long time, but let the message stay with you forever.

is happy to be a part of such a fun project. She has been performing, choreographing, directing, and producing in the DFW area for the past 15 years. She is a two-time graduate from KD Conservatory for both Acting and Musical Theatre, and also holds a BA from the University of Arizona. When Stephanie isn’t active in the community, she is teaching Performing Arts at Ursuline Academy of Dallas (10 years). A big thank you to Caren for the love she gives willingly, and to her two pups, LeRoy and Bruno, for always welcoming her home with such love and energy when she doesn’t have any.

Nicole is a child of God, a wife, and a mother of two fantastic (adult) kids!! Nicole is thankful for the Machens and Caren for letting her be a part of this show each year and is also thankful for her husband and his support.

Some of Abby’s favorite past roles include The Music Man with Garland Summer Musicals; Seussical (Gertrude) with Wylie Acting Group; and Matilda, Bright Star, and Tuck Everlasting with Dallas Young Artists. In addition to her time spent acting, she takes dance, piano, and voice lessons. She is happiest when she is on stage! is excited to make her debut with this fun musical! She has been in numerous shows in the DFW area. Most recently Andrea appeared in Sister Act at RCT, Anastasia at NTPA Rep, and Follies and I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change at Garland Civic Theater. To pay the bills, she designs wastewater and drinking water treatment plants. She cannot express enough thanks to the cast and crew for the opportunity to work with them to keep the arts alive, to her husband who puts up with all those evenings at rehearsals, and to God who instilled in me a love for music and fine arts!

Melissa has been involved with community theatre for several years serving on the production side, but now she is taking the leap to perform on the stage now that her kids are grown. Most recently Melissa was in the ensemble cast of School House Rock the Musical at Wylie Acting Group. When not at a theater, Melissa owns her own business providing digital marketing and virtual assistant services. Summer holds a BFA in Ballet Performance from TCU and is a Certified Yoga Instructor. When not dancing, she works as a software product manager and is dog-mom to two Siberian Huskies. is a voice teacher and choreographer located in Plano, TX. She earned her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from West Texas A&M. Her professional credits include Sadie, Elsie (Understudy) in TEXAS Outdoor Musical and Dorabella in Cosi Fan Tutti. Her most recent credits include Bombalurina in CATS (RCT), Red Cross Nurse/Queen of Hearts in Alice by Heart (LCT), and Betty in White Christmas (ACT). She is an active choreographer in the Collin County area and has co-choreographed SIX-the Teen Version at Rowlett HS this past year, which won “Best Musical” at the Broadway Dallas HS Theatre Awards. She thanks her amazing parents for their true and constant support of her.

Abigail Head

is a recent transplant to the greater DFW area from Virginia. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Georgia and has performed and studied throughout the southeastern United States. Notable roles include Anne Eggerman in A Little Night Music, Despina in Cosi Fan Tutte, and Cecily Cardew in The Importance of Being Earnest. Most recently, Abigail performed as Evangeline Barley/Woman 3 in A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder at The Firehouse Theatre. When not performing, Abigail teaches voice lessons at The Dallas School of Music. In all aspects of her life, Abigail embraces Bach’s motto: Soli Deo Gloria, “To God alone be the glory.”

is grateful for the opportunity to perform in this wonderful show for her fourth season. She has been involved in North Texas community theatre productions since 2005 and has many favorite shows. Most recently, she appeared as an adult ensemble member in Corp’s Fiddler on the Roof. Other recent productions include GSM’s The Music Man at the Granville Arts Center. Samantha is a HIPster at My Possibilities in Plano, where she is continuing her education and will begin employment training for a career in the hospitality sector in January. She sends her love to Chris, Diane, Caren, and all her amazing friends in the cast and crew! Up next: Groundhog’s Day the Musical in Garland.

Past favorite productions include The Odyssey (Dallas Theater Center), Something Rotten (Granville Arts Center) , 7 Brides for 7 Brothers (GSM), Godspell (Permian Playhouse), Mamma Mia (MCT), Peter & the Star Catcher ( SHSU), and To Kill a Mockingbird (SFASU). Brady wants to dedicate his performance to Amy and Kevin.

is a 3rd grade math/science teacher and Child Life graduate student. She’s previously been involved with music ministry through singing and playing bass and saxophone in worship groups as well as directing children’s ministry music programs and choirs. She’s honored to support and be involved with MxM: a collective of diverse persons, artists, and cultures who revel in the beauty of Jesus through creative arts and stories. Thrilled to be returning for her third year, she’s very grateful for the opportunity to share the “good, good news” and the story of hope in this special way with her fellow cast members. Chris and Diane would like to thank God for giving them this story of hope to tell, and the amazing story tellers (the wonderful cast) of Hope In The Heartland. is honored to be returning as the director for Hope In The Heartland. Caren has been a performer and choreographer for years. She had the privilege of being the choreographer for 4 seasons at The Promise in Glen Rose and can be heard as “Mary” on the current soundtrack.

She’s been performing for Garland Summer Musicals for 15 seasons and is returning for her 16th season as assistant director for Crazy For You. Caren loves being part of a story that brings Good News and Hope to the world. She would like to thank Chris and Diane for entrusting her with this amazing production.
